Welcome! I'm Laura Mars, and for the past seven years, I've dedicated myself to transforming lives through tailored training solutions. Dogs have always been a central part of my life. From the childhood challenge of re-training our deaf family dog using hand signals, my love for this work has only deepened, turning what was a youthful dream into a wonderful career.
My approach to training is all about understanding the individual needs of each dog and their human. I specialise in helping owners with dogs that some may consider hard to motivate, or easily distracted by their surroundings. I focus on understanding their motivations to improve outcomes and build stronger bonds. I take great joy in making learning enjoyable and effective for both you and your dog, ensuring that each session strengthens the bond you share.

Beyond being a Certified Dog Trainer, I hold a Master’s in Adult Learning Theory and a degree in Social Work. My background as a social worker, particularly my 20 years of experience (including 11 as a Senior Social Worker in Learning and Development), has equipped me with unique insights into human behaviour, which I love to integrate into my training programmes. This expertise allows me to support not just the wagging end of the leash - but you, the devoted dog owner - ensuring that our training methods resonate with your personal learning style.
For the past two years, I've also been mentoring aspiring Dog Trainers as part of the Dog Training College's mentorship team, a role I find incredibly rewarding. My life with dogs is vibrant and varied; from Great Danes to Schnauzers and lovable crossbreeds, each has left a paw print on my heart. Currently, Milo, a Shih-tzu and Bichon Frise mix, is my spirited companion. His journey from a fearful lockdown puppy to a confident, happy dog has not only been a transformation for him but has enriched my understanding of the challenges and triumphs dog parents face!
Outside of training, I'm an avid explorer of the UK’s culinary scene, beaches, and historical properties, and I cherish moments spent painting, playing guitar, and enjoying the company of Milo and Pudding, our beloved elderly cat.
I'm proud to be recognized as a top-rated trainer in South Somerset for both 2023 and 2024, and to hold numerous certifications in Dog Behavior and Training.
